One or should I say two of Dubai’s most priced jewel are both artificial islands, and they are both palm like in structure, in fact we should just refer to them as palm island because that’s what they are. The names of these islands are Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali, on the coast of Dubai , United Arab Emirates. On November 2014, only Palm Jumeirah was been completed but the Palm Jebel Ali began construction in October 2002 and is expected to be completed in mid-2015. The islands is said to host to a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centers and will add a total of 520 kilometers of non-public beaches to the city of Dubai. The creation of the Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, the Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. A third island was planned and construction started, but this project was later re-modeled and renamed to Deira Island. The building of these monuments sucked up a lot of resources but most iconic of note is the 5.5 million cubic metres of rock brought from over 16 quarries in Dubai and then there is the 94 million cubic metres of sand brought from deep sea beds 6 nautical miles from the coast of Dubai and yes, the 210 million cubic metres of rock, sand and limestone.
You should know that Palm Jumeirah has started renting out apartments, Hotels, bars and clubs. So whenever you get the chance to visit Dubai on a vacation or business trip, do not miss the chance to see this one of a kind of masterpiece in the Emirates.
